About IAM Union
The International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers (IAM) is one of North America’s largest and most diverse labor unions, representing nearly 600,000 active and retired members. Our members are employed across various industries, including aerospace, transportation, automotive, defense, woodworking, and federal sectors. Prominent companies with IAM representation include Boeing, Lockheed Martin, United Airlines, and Harley-Davidson. Collectively, IAM members advocate for respect and dignity in the workplace, striving for enhanced job security, competitive wages, and improved benefits.
Established in 1888, the IAM has a long-standing commitment to securing workers’ rights and benefits. We believe that working people should exercise their rights cooperatively and economically for the benefit of all. Our mission is to preserve and grow the IAM based on solidarity and justice, striving for a higher standard of living for people who work.
Union membership offers numerous advantages. On average, union members earn 26% higher wages than non-union workers. Additionally, 89% of union workers participate in defined benefit programs, compared to 46% of non-union workers. Union members are also more likely to have employer-provided health insurance benefits and greater access to apprenticeships and training opportunities. The IAM provides workers with a powerful, collective voice to communicate to management, ensuring that members’ needs and concerns are effectively addressed.
The IAM is here to help you secure a voice on the job. Join the IAM today!
